Phil Houghton is a Poet, Writer and Fell Walker living in Cumbria.

Phil is featured in acclaimed filmmaker – Producer/Director – Terry Abraham’s latest film – Life of a Mountain Blencathra, appearing with his walking companion Hamish, the Border Terrier.

Phil’s poem features in the film, which made its TV debut on BBC Four, on Valentine’s Day, 2017 and was shown again on BBC Four, in September 2017.

Phil has appeared at Words by the Water, Keswick – 6th March 2017 – talking about Mountain Landscapes, and the literary and filmmaking responses to them, presenting together with Terry Abraham – Venue: Theatre by the Lake, Keswick

Phil’s poem Piton was read at the opening event for the Mountain Heritage Trust’s new base and archive, at Blencathra Field Studies Centre in 2017.

He appeared in the September 2017 edition of Trail Magazine, in the feature Life at Boot Level.

He also read the celebratory poem, written for the 30th Anniversary of Skiddaw House hostel, in Summer 2017.

His work is also featured in an exhibition at Keswick Museum, which runs until New Year 2018, an excerpt of which featured on BBC Radio Four’s Open Country .
